REBRAND VISUALS & FEEDBACK FROM FORMATIVE 3

From formative 2 I struggled to gain momentum with PROJECT X. I was happy with the ideology and plan for PROJECT X and what it will do, however I was not happy with my creative direction work and direction it was going. There were various reasons, one was that it was going in the very dark colour palette path that I seem to do every single time, it is like im locked in on colours and only want to work with these colours - Black, white, grey and whites are my favourite sort of colours but when it comes to working on a project and delivering various outcomes and provoking certain thoughts and feelings, these colours do not always get the desired effect. Another reason is that the visuals and creative direction felt very disconnected and also quite isolated in the same way, they felt out of sync while not have a vast area for improvement or the ability to change and adapt - Which is what you want in a creative direction, brand guidelines etc. you want to be able to have a set, concrete style and aesthetic while being able to adapt and look the same even when changing it.

For me, this was due to my lack of motivation and productivity with the project and my ideas, I wasn't having free flowing ideas and thoughts that were motivating me to push the creative direction in a certain way. However, like I said in my previous blogs, I found the inspiration and knew where I wanted to take this.

So, for formative 3 I decided I would make a booklet of my work mixed with examples and inspirations to give a solid feeling and outline for what my PROJECT X booklet would look like - As when you think of a booklet, it sounds stale and boring... I want the opposite, I want this PROJECT X booklet to have all the ins and outs of what my project, campaigns and goals are, showing all the relevant business information and research on knife crime and gang violence as well as all the various important research areas that build a solid story of the problem and the solution in which PROJECT X will try and provide, while looking absolutely beautiful.

Here I will show the pages in which I showed - Remember this is not all my own work, it is to show what I want my booklet will feel and look like.

Personally I really like the creative direction and what the PROJECT X booklet can become. The use of various artistic visuals partnered with in depth research and business documents will present PROJECT X in a way that investors, charity funds and the general public can understand and believe in.

Feedback was varied, my peers really liked the style of it and thought the design ideas were clean, however Russell and Xavier were demanding more humans and to home in on a certain aspect of PROJECT X, which is the anti knife crime campaign, turning a knife into something good. I believe this was really good feedback as I think it is true, Xavier said that the designs are nice etc. however it is not talking to the young person carrying a knife, this arty stuff will not stop them carrying a knife - So I needed to think about how I would speak to them effectively.

From the feedback I was sent away, feeling okay with where my project was, but focused on what I needed to do which was to forget about PROJECT X, think about the anti knife crime campaign and how I will talk to the demographic that are involved or effected by knife crime and gang violence.

What will get them to drop the knife and join PROJECT X? Why would they want to? How would I speak to these people? Who What Where Why How?
