"Early days - Ideas ideas ideas."

For my 'PROJECT X' campaign I knew I needed to come up with an idea for a campaign that will be the vocal point of the business and project itself. Although it is the early stages of the project it is important to start planning and conceptualising ideas, sometimes it takes time to build a strong idea or to come up with one at all - But for me, on this one I believe I have come up with an idea that could be very very strong in more senses than one.

The campaign will try to engage with individuals that have a knife or know people who do (gang members etc) and get them to come to the creative workshops where the knives will be melted down and made into rings. From this, the individuals who are involved in the creative youth centre work shops will then learn how to make rings and then develop the product into a successful campaign which will involve modelling, photo shoots, product launches and then the sale of the jewellery. This will then involve many various practical and creative skills that they can learn, then at the end, they have a finished product campaign that they can then put into their portfolio. The rings themselves can then be sold and the profit will be re invested back into 'PROJECT X' and the community, while also keeping the rings themselves.

I want the creative centre workshops to have a finished product/project at the end of it so then the individuals who were involved have something to walk away with and to feel proud of - As well as having a substantial piece of work to put into their portfolios which will hopefully help them get a job or get into college/university. The finished product/campaign then completes the cycle for this enterprise plan as then the money made will then be put back into the pockets of the community and help it develop further.

At the foundations of this campaign it is to take knives off the streets, make them into something positive while also engaging with the people who use it and teaching them skills and attributes that will help them in the future.

My next steps are to research into the theory behind this social intervention, find out how and if it will work as well as developing the visual side of the campaign for the formative on Wednesday 20th Jan 2021.
