"Turning a negative into a positive."

For 'PROJECT X' I will doing an initial campaign in which the creative youth workshops will melt down handed in knives from the public and melt them down into jewellery, mostly rings to start off with as I know that stainless steel rings are doable and are aesthetically nice, however, I will most definitely be open minded into exploring other items of jewellery that can be made from stainless steel such as bracelets, bands, maybe even medallion pieces.

For the campaign I am going to be making a logo for it. As soon as I came up with the idea of doing this campaign I came up with the logo concept.

I wanted a logo of a knives blade going down and then elegantly circulating into a nice smooth circle that resembles a ring, but also the image of the knife being melted and made into something other than a pointy, sharp object.

Above is the first logo visual that I created, using a zombie knife PNG and the brush tool I was able to resemble my idea, however it is no where near clean or crisp enough and it does not have the 3d perspective that I would like - Preferably I would like it to be entirely 3D, which I will be working on, but for now I just wanted to get the perspective of it having depth correctly.

Before I had time to develop the logo itself I needed to create a poster visual for 'PROJECT X' and the campaign, so I used this initial logo and made a chrome effect in photoshop to give it a more realistic, clean look - Basically making it look a lot more developed in the sense of it not being just a black silhouette

For 'PROJECT X' I know that I need to keep the visuals simple but effective, with a hint of artistic flare as I do not want the message and reason behind 'PROJECT X' to become lost or to become too 'arty farty' and come off in the wrong way.

I want the logo of the campaign to sit in front or in view of where the youth creative workshop is held, in this instance, Kingston University, Penryhn Road campus was used as it was a good example due to the very striking building that we have at KU. The reasoning behind that is that because PROJECT X is going to be moving around the UK it is important that the public understand where it is quickly and easily - I always HATE searching around a poster/visual/event page trying to find the date or post code, its a waste of time and just plain annoying.

After this I then went away and worked on the logo once more and tried to make it as '3D' as possible, I do not think it is right just yet however it is definitely getting there

I like how it looks and I like how it looks like its coming towards you and then the front of the circular chrome part looks like its slightly going down which gives the opportunity to play with the perspective of it and create new visuals that take advantage of that.

An idea in my head is to use this logo as a type of beacon that lands in a city and takes a buildings place and entices you in with warm light - Letting the public know that PROJECT X has arrived in the town/city and everyone is available to come.

I've had that idea for a while but a photography project by Benoit Paillé visualised the concept perfectly (see below).

I love it, I love the simplicity of it, I love the contrast in the cold landscape and the box, I love how its almost hovering - It looks like it doesn't below there but I'm glad its there kind of thing, the box even looks warm, it feels warm.

From here I want to create my logo in a 3d form and give it a presence like this box above, a warm light that entices you in - Then put it into a city landscape and see how that looks.
