"Same roots, new ideas."

Our Tolworth project has seemed to fall down a very distinctive route, which is the idea that we can showcase what Tolworth has to offer through biophilic design. The use of nature is becoming more and more important especially in built up areas as it helps combat congestion, air and noise pollution that is created from cars, public transport, buildings and people as well. For us this was perfect for Tolworth as the area does feel somewhat run down and uncared for, so giving it life through actual life answers the questions of how to make Tolworth look nicer as well as social issues such as climate change, emissions etc.

Group projects can be seen to have many styles and maybe separate ideas which is excellent for the development stage however it isn't as helpful when trying to put it all into one final presentation as there is a lack of continuity and design aesthetic throughout. Because of how clear it was to me of the underlying project aim that we have created, I believe a tree would be perfect along with the slogan 'Same roots, new ideas' as this sums up our campaign very well, the tree signals our use of nature, the roots tell the story of the creation of our routes around Tolworth and the slogan emphasises on the fact that we are doing heritage and using aspects of the old heritage that is existent in Tolworth, but more importantly the realisation that there is very much a need for building up new heritage as the main concern when tackling this brief was the fact that barely anyone knew or cared about the heritage in Tolworth which suggests that they are not emotionally connected to the area.

Using different brush strokes changed the look of the tree hugely, the rounded edged brushes made the tree look quant and delicate like a normal tree whereas the sharper edged charcoal style brushes gave them pointy edges which was also appealing as it looked quite contemporary and number 5 looked almost like a satellite which played into Tolworth and its built up, city life image.

Sometimes I struggle to describe a group project aim, objective and deliverables but with the logo and slogan I believe it rounds it all up and it helps to get the point across and backs up why we have answered the brief in this certain way.

''Same routes, new ideas.' is the campaign to use the old, lost heritage in Tolworth such as Toby Juggs and bring it back to life through nature and creativity'
